Policeman: Right, the date is 2nd February 2007. It is 10:00 o'clock exactly. Is your name Terry Brown?
Terry: Yes Policeman: Is your address number 3 New Road, Birmingham? Terry: Yes Policeman: Is your date of birth 23rd October 1970? Terry: That's right. Policeman: Where were you Terry at ten o'clock in the evening on Saturday 9th January? Terry: I was watching tv at home. Policeman: OK, what programme were you watching? Terry: I can't remember! Policeman: Was anyone with you? Terry: No, just me and my 2 dogs. Policeman: Are you married? Terry: Yes Policeman: What was your wife doing that evening? Terry: I don't know, she wasn't at home. Policeman: I don't believe you Terry and I'll tell you why I don't believe you. How often do you stay at home watching tv on Saturday nights? I know you usually go to the pub, so why did you decide to stay at home on Saturday 9th January? Terry: I didn't have any money. Policeman: I believe that - and I think that's why you went to the local shop to steal some money. Terry: No. Policeman: With your wife! Terry: Why do you say that? Policeman: Well you have a little problem... Terry: What's that? Policeman: The shopkeeper recognised your wife. Terry: What... that's... not possible... Policeman: You see, it was dark, cold and raining and your wife used the umbrella to cover her face but she dropped it in the shop. Would you believe it, the shopkeeper is her old neighbour! Terry: OK, so my wife stole from the shop, but I didn't! Policeman: I spoke to your wife yesterday and she told me you stole the money from her!!!! She also told me where the money was. Terry: Er...no... Policeman: Please take off your shoes Mr Brown. Terry: No! I've got cold feet. Policeman: Take them off!...... £100, £150, £200... Thank you very much Terry. I'll see you in court. |
