Chris: Hello
Travel Agent:  Good morning, how can I help you?
Chris: Well, we're looking to go away for a long weekend, Friday to Monday but we're not sure where yet are we.
Travel Agent: O.K.  That's fine. Are you looking for a city break with sightseeing or somewhere near a beach?
Chris: erm... what do you think John?
John:I fancy somewhere with a beach really.
Chris: OK, but it needs to be near a town... not necessarily a city, but I want to be near some shops!
Travel Agent:  Can I just ask if where you've already been so I don't suggest a place you've already visited?
John: I've been to Budapest, Paris...
Chris: I haven't been to Budapest but I have been to Paris
John: I haven't finished Chris
Chris: Oh sorry!
John: OK, I've been to Budapest, Paris, Prague, Edinburgh, Dublin errr... I think that's it.
Travel Agent: and what about you Chris?
Chris: I've been to Paris, Dublin, Rome, Venice...
Travel Agent:  Did you both like Ireland?
Chris & John: yeah, yeah
Travel Agent: Neither of you have been to Galway, it's a really nice town on the West coast of Ireland. It's near the sea, there are lots of shops, the food is fantastic and there are lots of typical Irish bars with live music.
John: It sounds lovely but I don't know about you Chris, but I'd like somewhere a little bit warmer if possible.
Chris: Galway sounds perfect but I agree with John - I'd like somewhere a bit warmer too.
Travel Agent: How about Barcelona?
John: yeah Barcelona sounds good.
Chris: I've never been to Spain.
Travel Agent: There's a big sandy beach for you John and there's lots of shops of course... and you must visit la Ramblas - the most famous street in Barcelona and it's pretty much guaranteed to be hotter than Ireland!
John: Are you happy with that Chris?
Chris: Yes, let's book it now. Can we fly from Birmingham 18-21 March?
Travel Agent: Yes you can fly from Birmingham no problem. The outbound flight on 18th March is BA7562 departing 13:30 hours arriving 15:20 hours and the return flight on 21st March departs 18:25 hours arriving 20:45 hours. The total cost including 3 nights in a 3 star hotel in Barcelona centre is £399 per person or £425 if you'd prefer a 4 star hotel.
John: We'll take the 4 star hotel please.
Travel Agent: Shall I book it now for you?
John: Yes please.
Travel Agent:...OK that's done for you. Thank you very much enjoy your trip!
John & Chris: Thank you, bye.

Fancy

Look at John's first sentence.

"I fancy somewhere with a beach really".

'I fancy' is another way to say 'I want'. You tend to use 'fancy' when you are making a nice decision for example choosing a cake or choosing a holiday if you want to go out somewhere nice for an evening. If a verb follows straight after the word 'fancy' you use the gerund.

'I fancy' è un altro modo da dire 'I want' (voglio).
Si usa 'fancy' quando prendi una decisione bella per esempio, se scegli una torta, o una vacanza o se vuoi andare in un bel posto per una serata. Se un verbo segua subito dopo la parola 'fancy' si usa il gerundio.

Use 'fancy' in the following translations:
